Pay what you want for World of Goo

2D Boy goes crazy with birthday celebration

2D boy seems to have lost its mind a bit in celebrating the first year anniversary for the much-praised puzzler World of Goo. At present the company's website is selling the PC, Mac and Linux versions of the game for whatever the heck you feel like paying until Monday, October 19.

The site has been on an offline and varying in its speed all day, presumably due to awesomeness -- indeed, they do love you, 2D Boy. However, the main game page should be good to go.

It should be noted the company is rather progressive in its views on DRM (World of Goo has none), so not only for that we recommend a sizeable amount for this underloved but lovely game.

Also: an iPhone version is in the works and should be ready relatively soon.

lol so many people on their site I can't get on! Not to nit pick, but you can't pay nothing, which, in a sense, is not paying "whatever you want". Although if you can pay a penny I suppose it doesn't mean shit lol.

You, sir, are not worthy of World of Goo if you pay that much :/

To nitpick further, putting in $0.00 would not be paying in the first place.

True, but I seem to recall certain bands allowing $0.00 as a payment.

And some people wonders why PC-gaming is dying...
Screw you who don't want to pay anything for this fantastic (DRM-free!!!) game!

Go torrent some EA or Activision game instead. At least they can afford it.

This game was developed largely by a one (1!) person. He doesn't have any backup from any large company.
Nearly 92 percent of all PC World of Goo-games played are pirated.

I can understand why people likes to pirate big company-games, but to download games from indie-developers without paying is just stupid and will, in the long run, undermine the industry and kill it's creativity.
(Of course, there are always some ignorant, braindead cavemen who won't mind playing another Gears/Halo/CoD-clone, but I, for one, am fairly sick it.)

So, please! Give 2D Boy your love, money and respect. He deserves it.
