Medieval times get a little more social
Dragon Age: Origins isn't far from launch now, and in preparation developer BioWare has put together some web-based features for the title.
The first is pretty neat: it's a Character Creator which lets you set up your avatar to be used in the final game. Aside from letting you dilly about, the editor gives a direct look into how the system works in this one compared to BioWare's past RPG ventures -- fan impressions so far seem to range from 'intuitive', 'somewhat simplistic', 'not bad' to 'downright poor'. Offered are three classes; some character types can be selected as a noble or commoner, though no height or build options are given. The 281MB editor can be had via the BioWare blog in your language of choice. Note those who upload their character will get a free Lucky Stone ring which adds +1 to all stats.
The second project is the BioWare Social Network, which essentially serves as a BioWare version of Facebook (or ahem, Neoseeker), allowing users to write blogs, post in forums, upload screenshots, and get into lots of other features. The network should be good for lots of "Let's Play" stories, too, we expect.
As always, Dragon Age: Origins launches November 3 in North America and November 6 in Europe on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Should've thought to download the editor and grab some myself -- I blame Canada Day.
I always had a liking for hanging nipple jewelery... Oh well, that's why they are giving us the toolset is it not?
