Batman: Arkham Asylum left us with a rather positive view of superhero games, especially those of DC origin. Unfortunately, the Flash won't be getting his 15 minutes.
BottleRocket Entertainment closed its doors in September, and now we're seeing previously unreleased footage and renders from a video game starring the Flash. Similarly, we began seeing new artwork from GRIN and Ensemble, showcasing unannounced Final Fantasy (Ivalice-based) and Halo universe games, respectively.
A YouTube member calling himself "misterbigmouth" posted this footage in the summer, though it has received little attention. He writes:
This is early game footage from the cancelled Flash video game. When our publisher Brash folded we were about 6 months into full production with about a year still to go on the game so please excuse the roughness of how it looks at this stage. A lot of the core elements were just starting to surface and we were all really saddened that the game couldn't be saved. It was showing much potential. As such we just wanted to share a sample of what the game could have been like.
Hey, aren't those Captain Cold's lackeys?
Anyway, former BottleRocket artist Bryan Johnson posted renders featuring the Flash at home, though it's hard to say which unless we can determine Flash's identity. I have my money on Wally West. Anyway, it's labeled "Unannounced Title Xbox 360," and Johnson notes his role in the project. Sad news for DC fans, this is; now we'll never get to run at high speeds through traffic and sonic boom supervillains.
The Flash was one of my favourites in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. This could have been a great title, hopefully they'll pick it up some time in the future.
Damn, this game looked fine. However, DC Universe Online will make up for any lacking of DC Universe that console gamers have had.
Except DC Universe Online is PS3 exclusive on the console-front -- the Flash game was slated for Xbox 360. There are also those who may be put-off by the MMO aspects.
Very true, but those who have done their homework will know that DCUO is in fact one of the only "Action-MMOs" in development. This means away with the convention click n wait structure, and in with the action paced gameplay, very much like how this game was depicted.

Yeah, I played the game already... Combat mechanics are nice, but the MMO-esque progression is the real turn-off for many. Not to mention putting up with countless other players.
There are more components to an MMO than the combat system.
