Possibly during World War II in Europe

Ubisoft contemplates female Assassin's Creed hero Image 1

In the latest issue of Xbox World 360, Ubisoft producer Sebastien Puel talked about the possibility of a female assassin lead in the next Assassin's Creed game.

All Puel can confirm is that they've "had discussions" on the topic, and there's no hard evidence the next AC game will star a lady hero.  The team is, however, leaning toward that option, specifically during World War II when many nations were run by women.

It could be really interesting but we'd need to find the right time period and place for that.

Where would that make sense? We don't want to just decide we want to change and have a female hero as the first inspiration is always the time period, but if you're talking about, say, World War II the economies in England and France were run by women because the men were off fighting.

So maybe in this context you were a woman in England during WWII. Why not? Nothing prevents us from doing it

Interestingly enough, creative director Patrice Fortier also noted that the Assassin's Creed franchise can "just expand and expand," though Ubisoft originally planned for a trilogy.

We already had this. Velvet Assassin failed terribly.

As long as they don't do WWII. Then, it's basically a third-person CoD with jumping and flips and boobs. I'd much rather an era like the 1800s Europe.

Don't want to be a chauvenist, but a chick assassin? How many of those are around? Seriously, it would be kind of lame. Chicks are more fragile so it just seems kind of lame. Plus, all the developers would do is ad sex appeal to an animated character, and give her a bubble butt, and big boobies. How about a Japanese guy in the 1800s to 1900s with samurai and the introduction of the gun. A Russian assassin in Moscow during the cold war era.

    @riiaku:
    Kill Bill. That is all.
I wouldn't mind a chick assassin, actually i would welcome it as it would be a change of pace. I cant really imagine her in the wardrobe though...

There were plenty of female spies throughout history. I assume there are enough assassins too. Never heard of nobles being murdered by their own concubines? Aside from the fact that females can be trained to fight and take down larger opponents, many women were used in covert ops because they were less suspicious.

As for strength, I've seen pro female wrestlers compete, so I'm pretty convinced. And frightened.

Many assassins are women. The fact that you don't think they would be is exactly why many are.

A chick assassin won't be as badass as Ezio IMO.
    Because chicks have great asses!

I think they will still be following a male character, as both Ezio and Altair both look exactly identical to Desmond Miles. However, it depends what happens outside of the Animus too...

    Female assassin??

I'd love to play a game which features female assassin who can seduce men...Perhaps efficient love making tactics would be a rudimentary theme of next Assassin Creed game???

I think Ubisoft had enough experience with AC for we to safetly say they won't lose themselves in sex appeal and the more vulgar stuff.

The main concepts in the game are and will always be Crowd Stealth and Adaptive Movement and Action. Perhaps her more fragile nature would mean she shouldn't engage in open fights against overwhelming numbers, but what about it? It's not like the game focuses much on that for a game mechanics, fighting is a detail.

Things that could be added, however, are new ways to lose your chasers, for example. A small, slim woman can get into places both Ezio and Altair wouldn't dream of.

Everyone here is assuming that the male leads of Assassin's Creed don't have sex appeal. Seriously. Look at them.

Haw-haw! Nice try RabidChinaGirl, but I doubt that will cause any guys to admit that Ezio has sex appeal.

I am a guy, and I think Ezio has tons of sex appeal.
It's absurd to deny a man has sex appeal -- we're men. Are you out of your mind? It's just recognizing in others what (hopefully) you see in yourself.

I wish they didn't go to WWII. It is sort of played out in games. After Saboteur comes out with the female spy in WW2 the whole industry should just let that war rest of 3-4 years.

It would have been hella more interesting if they went to World World One or some of the other really neat wars (of which there are no shortage) besides the most obvious choice, WW2. What about a game in the Russo-Japanese war, the War of 1812, the Hundred Years war, or etc etc. WW2 is p-la-y-e-d out .

Or perhaps a fictional war. I'm sure they could come up with something a lot more interesting.

Maybe not even a war at all.

@Chatemoc: I was just being sarcastic. Of course I see the sex appeal in Ezio, though I would have suspected that most guys would deny the existence of it in an attempt to sound more manly.
