Tons of added content in store for ARPG fans
It's been reported for awhile now Dragon Age: Origins would have DLC in store following its release, but we weren't aware developer BioWare is going for some kind of record with it. Producer Mark Darrah says fans can look forward to a lot more as the game's lifespan goes on:
"Yeah, we have plans that stretch out for basically two years. And it’s going to be everything from really small stuff like item packs up to larger quests that might last an hour or two up to even fully fledged expansion packs. Really it’s a broad long term support plan for the game."
He notes further the DLC will "absolutely" be released on all platforms. We're hoping BioWare will go more the route Bethesda did with Fallout 3 as opposed to offering heaps of microtransactions in addition to the larger content. In either case, this puppy won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Last we checked the content will all be paid DLC, however there is the mod kit for PC gamers which will allow for new areas and virtually unlimited other content to be produced by the community, free of charge to you of course. Darrah states it's something they'd like to get on consoles, so they're checking that out at the moment. Whether this means getting PC-made content ported to the platforms or releasing a console-centric kit akin to what we have in titles like LittleBigPlanet, we can only wait to see, but it's an exciting prospect in either case.
