First batch numbers not looking good

Releasing an M-rated title on the Wii is always taking a risk, as Electronic Arts (EA) themselves have noted in the past. The company's rail shooter Dead Space Extraction is no exception, and though of course it was hoped the game would perform well, judging by its launch, this was the case in reviews but not in charts.
NPD's data recorded sales from the Extraction's launch on September 29 to October 3 as hitting the 9,000 mark, a very disconcerting figure, even if only for a five day period; analyst group EEDAR is attributing the results in part to a lack of promotion on EA's part. If sales don't even out over time (they sometimes do in these cases, as Sega has attested to), it appears this'll make Wolfenstein's numbers look good.
The news is particularly significant as EA has previously stated the game would be a "test" for whether or not it would invest in Mature game on the Wii. Extraction's sales could very well even out, but 9,000 is a terribly low number, so we're not holding out much hope. It would seem Wii owners are content with Everyone and Teen-rated titles; for action like Dead Space, gamers will likely have to go to other consoles, where the first title sold ~1.4 million copies.
People come to the kiosk with a completely different impression of what the game actually is. 9000 stings for sure but they didn't really do much to prevent it.
