Don't worry, it's family-friendly!

Remember when Konami tried to publish that army game Six Days in Fallujah? Yeah, a lot of people got really mad, forcing Konami to bow out. The developer, Atomic Games, had put the game on ice.
Now Atomic's sister company, Destineer Studios, is trying their hand at creating a virtual homage to the U.S. military for the Wii, called "Marines: Modern Urban Combat."
Scheduled for release on November 3, the game is described as "small-budget" (sounds better than "low-budget") and "family-friendly" by the Marine Corps Times, which also notes Marines is less realistic than the ill-fated Six Days in Fallujah. Either way, you'll be leading a four-man team through this FPS experience in modern-day Beirut, currently under Syrian and Iranian influence, armed with a Wii Remote acting as your M16.
Interestingly enough, Marines: Modern Urban Combat is based on a Marines training sim Destineer created in 2005 on PC, used as a training tool for infantry fire teams; this sim was later marketed on Xbox, PC and Mac as Close Combat: First to Fight. For their Wii title, the devs worked with 40 or so combat-experienced Marines during production, though they did not directly consult the Corps.
Destineer Studios president Peter Tamte does seem genuinely dedicated to the idea of honoring the men and women serving on the frontlines.
"We as a society tend to glorify heroes from 50 years ago, as we should," Tamte said, "But there are individuals whose sacrifice and courage and commitment is just as strong who are walking around with us right now."
But anyway, I'd love to see more modern warfare games which are based on real foreign policy issues of the United States thereby strengthening political awareness of young adults...
Lay off the rage, you're so carried away you can't even write coherently.
