They had to make up for Tabula Rasa somehow
NCsoft's latest bid as MMO operator, Aion, turned out to be the right move as the MMORPG's recent North American and European launches helped propel quarterly revenue and profit even higher than they already stood. For their third financial quarter ending September 30th, NCsoft reports revenue of ₩166.28 billion ($144.00 million USD). That's well over double the quarterly sales the company garnered during the same period last year. Even more impressive is NCsoft's ₩46.88 billion ($40.60 million USD) in net income, representing a whopping 836 percent in year-on-year growth.
The secret sauce was the successful international launches of Aion earlier this year. Indeed, NCsoft's latest MMORPG was their top-selling game during the third quarter, accounting for over half of their total sales by title. While a sizable proportion of NCsoft's sales were still attributed to its native South Korean territory, the company's share in North America and Europe grew this past quarter.
