Hacking and slashing is hard work
Though purchasers of the Collector's Edition of BioWare's RPG Dragon Age: Origins got some neat-o behind the scenes footage, the company has today released yet more, and free to all.
This developer diary explores what went into the game's combat -- what lead designer Mike Laidlaw describes as "sword porn." Covered is the influence of the Baldur's Gate series to which it owes much of itself, the "feel" of combat as well the "role playing" in RPG, tactics, AI, finishing moves, challenge, and much more.
It's a great watch that should get you pumped to slay some dragons and such if you haven't gotten in on the game already, or even if you have.
