Get Far Cry free... with an AMD64 system purchase, of course
AMD announces today that they have teamed up with Ubisoft to kick off a new worldwide campaign where the purchase of an Athlon 64 FX or AMD Athlon 64 processor-based system from participating system builders nets you a free copy of Ubisoft's Far Cry first-person action shooter. The offer is expected to last until this June (or while supplies last, as you probably might've guessed).
"'Far Cry is among the first of many games that will tap into the incredible power and possibility offered by AMD Athlon 64 processors,' said Henri Richard, executive vice president, worldwide sales and marketing, AMD. 'With AMD offering the best 32-bit performance available today and gaming developers already using 64-bit computing environments to build unprecedented realism into their products, 32-bit only technology is no longer a barrier to the imagination of creators. With AMD64 platforms, games can now be created on, served on, and played on the award-winning next-generation technology.' 'We are offering customers a unique experience to explore high drama and realism with Far Crys incredible lighting and shadows, adaptive audio, weather effects and revolutionary character physics,' said Jay Cohen, vice president of publishing, Ubisoft. 'With the AMD Athlon 64 FX and AMD Athlon 64 processors unprecedented performance on Far Cry, the game can be played the way we envisioned and PC buyers can truly realize extreme gaming.'

Further information regarding the promotion itself is expected to be available here on AMD's site. Hopefully we'll hear more regarding just who exactly will be a participating system builder.
