Microsoft no longer commenting in Live failure

Lawsuits and liabilities going hand in hand.

By now, most of us already know about the lawsuit filed against Microsoft last week by three Texas residents.  The plaintiffs are demanding $5 million in damages, and some bored chumps - er, I mean a local law firm - are presenting their case in court.

As a result, Major Nelson, whose real name is Larry Hryb, has announced that he can no longer provide updates and news concerning Xbox Live.

Until the lawsuit is settled, we won't be getting anymore information concerning the Live failure that occurred over the holidays.

Maybe after this case is over, those three can swing the lawsuit bat at their mailman for not delivering their packages on time because he broke his legs.

They Can't comment, otherwise the case might actually get somewhere, it is standerd tactical manuervering by the Lawyers and such, keep things a secret. Sadly, nut sacks like those texans exist, and cause things like this to happen.

There has got to be something in the small print to help Microsoft out on this one. Of all the reasons to sue Microsoft I think this is the dumbest one I have heard.

i know where they are comming from but 5 million is way to much for not having live for 3 weeks but they should reimburse everyone that has live for the time it was down by adding on the lost time

OK for those of you are kinda pissed at the folks in Texas for probably losing the rest of us any compensation, here is a little info. The following are the people involved in the case. I couldn't find emails for the people themselves, but the lawyers was on the filing (which can be seen found here

    http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/techtracks/2008/01/xbox_live_holiday_outages_prompts_class_action_law.html

So I think anyone who is upset should let the lawyer know about it via email or phone. Maybe if enough of us let him know how we feel, he'll pass that on to the twits suing MS.

Please feel free to repost this info in any other blog sites out there.

Im texan myself and find the lawsuit completely silly. Im still having difficulty connecting to xbox live but I would never pursue a lawsuit against microsoft over connectivity issues. However with the economy going sour im not surprised about it though. A wealthy company like microsoft who is concerned about the image of one their more successful service or product is a easy target. They would more likely settle out of court to avoid highlighting a negative situation. So the question is wether microsoft will give into this type of publicity blackmail.

Remember children, two things come from texas. Steers, and three idiots who sue microsoft over bullshit. And how the hell is it for damages? They may be able to try and claim around 120 in damages to around 4k, but not five million.

Solid shadow, they already made the move to comp gold and silver owners with a free live arcade title from the collection. The cost of a free title comes to around the same amount that might be lost in that much downtime from the system.
