Katsutoshi Sasaki talks about the upcoming Soul Calibur title, with guest stars from a galaxy far, far away.
In an interview with GameTrailers, Soul Calibur director Katsutoshi Sasaki talks about the highly anticipated fourth installment due in 2008. Naturally, we look to him for some explanation, some sense for including Yoda and Vader.
For those who are a little behind, Namco announced this month that the 360 and PS3 would each be getting an exclusive guest fighter - Yoda for the 360 and Vader for the PS3.
Katsutoshi says that Soul Calibur has always been consumer driven game (Ivy's breasts, Raphael's tight butt - do we need more proof?) and so the two Star Wars heavy hitters were naturally selected to make guest appearances in Soul Calibur IV.
And that's pretty much it. They just naturally fit.
Ring outs are back and still a big part of the game, combined with new interactive stages that can be molded by a player's actions. Don't see an opening to ring your opponent out with? Break down a wall with that big manly sword and make one.
SC IV is meant to be the "last chapter" in the series, but Katsutoshi-san conceded that if there is a demand, gamers would see more Calibur content somewhere down the line. If that's the case, I'm voting for Snake or Dante to make an appearance, or maybe even Pyramid Head. Oh hell, why not all three for a sexy time?
Then again, this may be one tale I don't want to see retold over and over again.
I wouldn't put too much emphasis on trying to rationalize how these guys fit into the game. From their comments about how it's a consumer driven game, I think their point is that the special characters don't have to fit; they just took the most popular characters who used melee weapons they could find in all of geekdom and put em in.
Too bad this ain't coming out for Wii. It wuold be kinda fun to tun and use those weapons with the Wiimote. Then they could put in a fire emblem character something. Its really a shame we don't get the massive crossover-character fighters like japan does. Stupid copyright issues. Anyway SC4 is going to be a good fighter but one question remains Will their be more memory problems like on SC3.
I just don't like reading a line like "Rapheal's tight butt"...It is pretty nasty from my point of view, why not just call him pretty or Handsom or whatever?
It is just a bit bit annoying having that image pop into my Head when I read that. lol. And, no I am not insecure. Contrary to popular beleif. Also, I am not making anyone conform, I was just suggesting maybe the femanine Satire is a bit much. Jesus are you people touchy!
It's okay, Joe. I forgive you for your bias. It seems to inflict 90% of the male population on the internet; you are not alone. You're still wrong, just not alone.
lol so he has a tight ass and ivy has erm nice assets but its still a game so who cares XD and as for yoda and vader i look forward to kiking my bros ass as yoda XD ANCLE BITER FTW

Still, Vadar's glossy black style matches the sexy PS3...
And Yoda is green...The 360's main (official, sorta) colour is green >_>
Many have brought up the similarities between Vader and a PS3, while Yoda, being a Jedi, would suit the white color of a 360... and the green accents.
Joe: I like Raphael. What of it?
There's also the "not my cup of tea but to each their own" as an unused option for things.
