Even 3D Realms didn't believe it.
The Dallas Business Journal made headlines yesterday when they attempted to shed some light into this whole "release" business for Duke Nukem Forever, concluding the game is at last scheduled for release sometime this year. Since there's still a whole lot of months left in 2008, perhaps the bigger story was that DNF would also be ported to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
Were gamers ready to buy the apparent announcement? DNF's developer 3D Realms wouldn't want you believing in everything you read about the game and clarifies just what exactly they hoped to convey to the DBJ. Apparently the developer wasn't consulted to great length for the DBJ's writeup in any case, as president George Broussard himself issued a reminder on the company's website that the game will not have a firm release date until "its done". On top of that, no platforms outside of PC have been confirmed for DNF's launch.
The release date is still 'when it's done', and will be until the appropriate moment. Platforms have not been finalized or announced.
