Beta 5 now open for testing

Firefox 3 Beta released Image 1

The latest Firefox beta was released today, and boasts a ton of changes and improvements. As you'd expect, there are a number of issues at the present time, but that's why Mozilla needs your help!

This release boasts over 750 changes from the last. Below are the improvements made since Firefox 2, and in brackets, ones made in this release:

More Secure

Easier to Use (Windows/Mac/Linux integration, icons, etc.)

More Personal ("Places Organizer")

Improved Platform for Developers

Improved Performance (speed, Java, etc.)

It should be noted that extensions and add-ons installed with previous versions of the browser may not work. There are a number of other issues as well, most of which apply to all OS'. Some of these include conflicts within Gmail, feed reading issues, and some instances of hanging/crashing. The full list can be found here.

Anyone who cares to help, download the beta here. If that ain't enough to satisfy your deeply-imbued love for Mozilla Corporation, read the bug filing instructions, and then report to Bugzilla. Feeback can also be given here.

The beta is awesome. I've just downloaded it and installed it and I can already tell a massive difference in speed. Mozilla <3333333333

I downloaded and I've been running it for the past hour. Other then an upgrade to how it looks, I dont really notice a difference in speed, but that may be related to my slow internet connection.

I'll wait for the official release of Version 3.

I don't get on it much anymore, except when I'm at my dads place. I don't have the patience to deal with any bugs when I'm there.

If I used it more regularly, I might have gotten the beta.

You're not going to encounter very many, if any bugs at all, when you're just browsing normally. I've been running the beta for a few hours now and I'm yet to encounter one single problem other than minor compatibility issues with my themes and extensions what will be fixed once Firefox 3 is officially released.

nice to see firefox 3 is progrssing, i don't like betas so i'll only get the final version.
it would be nice if it could compete with opera, it's about time i found a browser that could, i still don't know though...i'll see when the real ff3 is released...let's not get my hopes up, though...

Hmmm, Firefox for me is a bit fishy at times. Sometimes webpages load in only text, sometimes it doesn't want to open youtube videos and sometimes when i click on a link, it acts like the page was on google and google can't find it. Then when I try these same pages on IE, it works fine :S I prefer FF to IE but it's acting quite strange atm.

that youtube video problem may not be firefox's fault, try reinstalling your adobe flash player
