LucasArts announces when the next big Star Wars game hits consoles
Part of a "multimedia project", the new Star Wars video game will be available to the public September 16, 2008 in the United States, September 17 in Southeast Asia and Australia, and September 19 in Europe.
This installment is particularly interesting because it represents the next part of the story, but will not see conception in the form of a movie, nor will the game be based on a movie. No, we'll see the game (released for all current systems, including the PS2 and N-Gage 2.0), a novel, action figures, a comic book, a reference book and a role-playing game supplement, but no movie. Course, some might say this is for the best, judging from the reactions for the last few.
The story puts you in the place of Vader's "Secret Apprentice." Naturally, such a job will uncover lots of new things about the world of Star Wars.
Peter Hirschmann, Vice-President of Product Development at LucasArts had this to say about the next-gen game:
"Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is one of the most ambitious projects LucasArts has ever launched. The combination of a great new Star Wars story with revolutionary new technology and game play means more fun than you’ve ever had in the Star Wars universe. We can’t wait until gamers get their hands on it this September."
Seriously, can you think of a better application for the Wii remote than The Force? Star Wars fans everywhere are going to collectively lose their s***. In all honesty, I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, and I'll probably lose it. In fact, this is the point where I'd let out a very unprofessional "yipee!"
Fans can keep updated until the games release through the official site, www.theforceunleashed.com.
And for those who can't wait, the novel, written by Sean Williams, comes highly reccomended and will be out August 19.
