Sharp introduces Intel Atom based phone

Yet another cool sub-notebook ... and this one is also a phone!

The Register reports on the new Sharp D4 which uses Intel's Centrino Atom platform.

The D4 has some pretty impressive specs:

  • 1.33GHz Atom Z520
  • 1GB of 533MHz DDR2
  • 40GB 1.8" HD
  • 188x84x26mm
  • 470g
  • full QWERTY keyboard
  • 5" 1024x600 display
  • 802.11b/g WiFi
  • Bluetooth
  • PHS phone network support
  • 2MP digital camera
  • microSD slot
  • USB port
  • TV tuner
  • Windows Vista Home Premium SP1

Uh? Excuse me?

A phone running Vista Home Premium?????????????

This cool toy is expected to sell for about $1275 with a two year minimum contract, and is supposed to be availble in Japan in June.

anyway I wonder how much will it be with out a contract, and what interests me the most is the dimension of this device.

I was getting 'damn, that sounds sweet!'....Then I saw the price >_> For that much, I'd just get a custom built PC and buy the phone separately (as if I'd actually get a phone, I don't use them much at all)
