In Japan Wii Sports continues to do well, selling its three millionth copy this past week
If you or your friend have a Wii you're already quite familiar with Wii Sports, a simple and straightforward game for all ages on the Wii. What you might NOT be familiar, is how well this game is selling. Yes, selling.
Wii Sports has been one of the best selling games world-wide for the Wii. Now this might not sound too impressive, given that in most regions, such as North America, the game is bundled with the Wii. In Japan however, it is sold separately. Amazingly, Wii Sports sold its 3 millionth copy in Japan since it was released back in December 2006! This means Wii Sports is the Wii's FIRST triple-platinum game!
With the Wii having recently crossed the six million mark in system sales in its home territory, it's reasonable to say that one in two Wii owners in Japan picked up Wii Sports with the console. While Wii Sports is bundled with the Wii in America, in Japan it's sold separately for 4,800 yen.
congrats! hopefully, by the time i'll buy a wii, there will be more multi-million selling games
