High Voltage goes high end with exclusive Wii FPS

Some of the best graphics for Wii promised

High Voltage Software has announced today that the Nintendo Wii will be getting a "stunning first person action shooter that promises to provide some of the best visuals seen to date."  Titled The Conduit, the game is slated for a Wii-exclusive Q1 2009 release and is supposedly going to have a thrilling single-player campaign and a competitive online play component.

Some of the advanced graphical features include:

  • Dynamic environment mapping
  • Interactive water with real-time reflection
  • Four-stage texture composition including gloss, diffuse, and bump mapping

Here is a brief summary of the gameplay courtesy of Nintendo Centrum:

As Secret Service Agent Ford, you must learn to master each of these weapons as well as the special “All Seeing Eye” device to defeat enemies, solve puzzles, and unravel the game’s mysteries.

High Voltage's vision for this game, according to Chief Creative Officer Eric Nofsinger, is to prove that the Wii is not just for casual gamers and gimmick games like Wii Fit, Wii Sports, or the next Mario game.  They also wish to prove that there is in fact potential for serious games with high end graphics like someone would expect from Grand Theft Auto or 007 games.

There is no publisher currently announced for the game, though many publishers are excited about the possibility of publishing this innovative Wii title.  HVS is still looking at potential suitors to make sure their baby grows up to be a defining, console-selling game.

Who's the genius that decided to post images from the game BLACK in place of The Conduit?
