Soul Calibur IV PS3 may be expecting a new arrival

And this time, it's not a Star Wars character

Namco Bandai's Soul Calibur IV has been hyped up over the past few months, with additions like Darth Vader (for the PlayStation 3) and Yoda (for the Xbox 360).

However, the latest rumour from the August edition of EGM, part of 1up, implies that the star of the PlayStation 2 (and PSP prequel) series "God of War," will be making his appearance as a playable character. Sorry Xbox owners, but Kratos, the God of War himself, will be PlayStation 3 exclusive.

No screenshots as of yet, but there are bound to be some soon if this rumour is confirmed. I'm personally itching to whack Darth Vader with the blades of Olympus!

So what about the Xbox 360? Sony got it's hands on Darth Vader to balance out Yoda, will Microsoft be getting it's own mascot to equal Kratos? Microsoft fans are bound to be feeling a bit left out at this point, my bet's on Master Chief as an exclusive character.

    You should probably make it clear that this is a rumor that has yet to be confirmed. Just to avoid confusion.

    Original article says next issue of EGM might confirm if it's true or not. If so, it'd be a great service to the gamers who got a PS3 for God of War. Katsutoshi Sasaki DID say that SC is a fan driven series...

    If it turns out to be just a rumor... well, it was good for a laugh anyway.

    Would be cool, though I've never played God of War >_>

    If it IS true, one does wonder what the 360 version's character would be....I kinda doubt Master Chief (though it is possible)....Primarily a gun-toting character, after all....

    If Namco puts Kratos in Soul Calibur IV it will sell millions. I bet is true EGM always reveals things and they most likely are always TRUE. If this happen i will feel sorry for Xbox 360 users because PS3 owners will have the baddest bad ass version.

    @ Ivan - Yeah, I hope it's true. It's not a stretch anyway, not like saying "Cloud and Sephiroth" will be in it. :]

    Also yeah, but 360 will get some character to compensate.

    Dante from DMC is a viable character for the 360 and it would be totally awesome!

    If anything, I think Dante would be put into the Playstation version. I doubt he'd be put into the Xbox version.

    Kick ass. Hope this turns out to be true, as Kratos was the obvious choice from the start for a guest character on the PS3. Though I've been secretly wishing Dante, or even Vergil, would make an appearance. It's a little late in the game for this Kratos rumor, so I'll probably be holding on to hope until release week. Haha. It would make me sad to see Dante on the 360 version, though. It'd just be so wrong. D:

    The solution to this, however, is clear: Namco should consider some extra character DLC. Maybe downloading Vader to the 360 version and Yoda to the PS3, in addition to any more characters they may want to throw in after release.

    @Exevier - Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the 'console exclusive' ones don't remain that way forever >_>

    I wouldn't mind a DLC for Dante. Dante, TBH, sounds like a very good idea for a Soul Calibur character (inhumanly strong, different swords, etc)...

    OH DAMN! Just thought of a 360 exclusive....Ryu Hayabusa anybody?

    Kratos is owned exclusively by Sony because the company developed and produced God of War. All the characters you guys have named so far for the 360 aren't owned by Microsoft but their respective developers, so I highly doubt they'd end up in a Namco game (amusing as Dante would be, I don't see Capcom flying for the idea).

    Dante will never go to PS3 or Xbox 360 because unless Microsoft or Sony or Namco pays them for the right it wont happen. Is not like Namco can put anyone they need to license character if is own by another company other than Microsoft or Sony or themselves. Kratos might make it if Namco wants but Sony owns the Kratos character son it will never be on Xbox 360 is own by PLAYSTAION baby.

    Well I heard some where that Dante was shortlisted for SC:III but never made the cut. I don't of the reliability of this info though.

    Capcom allowing Dante or Vergil appear in SCIV doesn't seem too far-fetched (well, maybe Vergil). Dante's already made appearances in Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne and Viewtiful Joe, though the latter was also a Capcom game. I do doubt his making any kind of appearance in the game, though I'd love to see it.

    But regardless, if Kratos makes it into the game, that'll be great. Not to mention bringing in a new weapon type.
