Nintendo announces new release dates: Wario and Kirby to Hit in September in the US
Andrew Y. - Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 | 7:11AM (PT)

Four games were announced by Nintendo today set for a late summer/early fall release

While the E3 Media & Business summit remains three weeks away, Nintendo has already announced release dates for four upcoming games for both the Wii and DS in a press release today. While they will save the bigger announcements for E3, these will undoubtedly be available for impressions at E3.

  • Mario Super Sluggers (Wii) - Namco Bandai - 8/25
  • Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir (DS) - Big Fish Games - 9/8
  • Kirby Super Star Ultra (DS) - HAL Laboratory - 9/29
  • Wario Land: Shake It! (Wii) - Good Feel - 9/29

Mario Super Sluggers is the Wii follow-up to Mario Superstar Baseball, developed by Namco Bandai, and will feature motion controls to simulate batting and pitching.  The game will feature three different control types and at least 30 different playable characters.

Kirby Super Star Ultra is the enhanced DS remake of the ever popular Kirby Super Star, originally for the Super Nintendo. In addition to the classic game modes featured in the original, Kirby Super Star Ultra will support all new modes that will enhance the experience.  Not to forget the multiplayer experience, this new Kirby will support cooperative play via local wireless, and multiplayer touch-based minigames via the DS Download Play feature for up to four players.

Wario Land: Shake It! is a new 2D Wii sidescrolling platformer being developed by Good Feel, starring the popular Mario antihero. The control method will be the Wiimote held sideways, and the player will shake the remote in order to defeat enemies, empty treasure, or cause earthquakes. The game will feature great amounts of replay value, with multiple missions to keep players coming back to unlock everything, collect coins, or improve times. Featuring well-drawn 2D graphics and cutscenes animated by anime studio Production I.G., Wario Land: Shake It! is sure not to disappoint.

Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir is developer Big Fish Games' first foray into the portable gaming scene, making use of the touch screen and microphone in a point-and-click detective adventure.  The game sports interactive logic puzzles and will be the first in the series to have multiplayer capabilities.
