New robotic bartender is slow, but friendly
If you've been coming to Neoseeker for a while, you might remember our Creepy'nCool Japanese Robot Review last year. Beside the lame HelloKitty robot, and the freaky Japanese sex-doll, you may recall my favorite entry in that article: the Asahi BeerBot.
Well it looks like the Asahi sub-contractors have been hard at work -- they've come up with a bigger, better, and even more fantastic Asahi beer-serving robot.
If there is one thing the world needs, it is more beer serving robotic bartenders, so I'm pleased to introduce to you Mr. Asahi. Much more than a mere 'BeerBot', Mr. Asahi is capable of holding a one-way conversation, and has a more human-friendly appearance. Powered by a PC, Mr. Asahi made his first public appearance in Selfridges, which is some place in the UK. Perhaps the strong demand for a good solid pint in that country will keep Mr. Asahi English shores for sometime.
A team spent 200 man hours making this beer-tender, in addition to a six-month training period.
Although most certainly a big step up in the right direction for robotic bartenders everywhere, Mr. Asahi shares one drawback with his evolutionary brother, the BeerBot: they both take an awful long time to pour a pint.
Nonetheless, Mr. Asahi is a wonderful technological marvel.
In the Channel Flip video below, you can watch Mr. Asahi in action; introduced by a very attractive spokesperson from Asahi:
Once it is perfected and mass produced, the dreams of the slackers will be crushed. No more will they think of bartending as the solution to their slothfulness
I've met people who figure they can get by pretty easily through bartending after they dropped out of high school >.>
