USAF X-37B "Mini-Me" unmanned shuttle scheduled for launch
William Henning - Wednesday, July 30th, 2008 | 12:49PM (PST)

Austin Powers would be proud

Looking like a cross between an overgrown cruise missile, orca and a space shuttle, the X-37B is the latest incarnation of a military space plane.

According to AviationWeek, the X-37B is scheduled to be launched from Cape Canaveral in November on an Atlas V, and will land at Edwards AFB at the end of the mission. At 27' length with a 15' wingspan, the vehicle is considerably smaller than a shuttle - but it is still big enough to launch a satellite or two, and one suspects that it would not be too difficult to stuff an astronaut or two into it.
