New gameplay discussion video released
One-on-one fighting game fans have had a great deal to look forward to recently, with many big titles coming out, in all the big franchises: Soul Calibur IV is currently flying off all sorts of shelves; Street Fighter IV is on its way; and D.C comic characters are getting ready to duke it out with Mortal Kombat ninjas and Shaolin Kung Fu masters come the Fall.
A new trailer for Mortal Kombat Versus D.C Universe was unvelied at ComicCon. The video goes over a few minutes of new features for the series, and is narrated by designer Ed Boon.
Also at ComicCon, the presence of the both of the following super-folk have been confirmed: the Joker, who apparently was not killed by Heath Ledger; and the Green Lantern (who sports a next-next-next gen magic ring.) In addition, it looks like Mortal Kombaters Kitana (who is one of the hottest girls over 10,000 years old your likely to meet) and Jax (a freedom-loving American warrior member of the extra-special Special Forces) are in the game.
M.K VS. D.C is coming out in the middle of November for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Other characters that have been already been confirmed in the game include: Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Shang Tsung, Sonya Blade, Liu Kang, Superman, Batman, Catwoman, the Flash, and Shazam. And no, you'll not be able to pull out Superman's spine or punch Catwoman's head off -- fatalities are going to be toned down a bit, at least when used against the super-heroes.
nice demonstration, i really like the new "freefall combat" thingie...but it doesn't take fatalities' place, i hope someone releases a hack or something... well, now for the question i've always wanted to ask...why does every mortal kombat game after deadly alliance have worse graphics than DA?
Well, the gameplay looks pretty fun. I just hope that Batman doesn't get the short end of the stick when it comes to kombat, especially after seeing what he was capable of in The Dark Knight...
Kevin, I think you should have used a video that incorporates the title of this article... maybe a video that actually introduces the Joker and the Green Lantern. It would reinforce your statement, ya know?
Green Lantern, Captain Marvel, and the Joker interest me more then Flash, Superman, and Cat Woman to be honest.
I can't wait to see what that ring can do, or what tricks the Joker pulls out. It would be interesting to see Captain Marvel employ some use of his name as well.
Omega -=> I don't believe a video has been released that shows Joker and G.L. If I give that impression in the start of the video, it's because I thought that that video did show those dudes at first .
I think playing this game as the Flash would be cool.
In regards to the Superman invulnerability thing - ya it is kind of lame to see Superman get beat up. Boon says how this is so is described in the game, but still.
I wish they axed Catwoman and I'm not a big Shazam guy either. There are better DC characters. What about Hank Henshaw, and, uhm, maybe Doomsday. Hawkeye? Wonderwoman? Hmm...
Two problems with that (one of which you should probably fix in the actual article).
1) His name is Captain Marvel. Not Shazam. Shazam is a completely different character. Shazam is the name of the wizard that gave Captain Marvel his powers. Captain Marvel says the wizards name, a lightning bolt strikes him, and he transforms. Likewise, Captain Marvel Jr. says Captain Marvel to activate his powers, meaning he can't tell anyone his name.
2) Hawkeye is a Marvel character, not a DC character.
Hey Glotnot. In reference to your points 1) It looks like you know more about comic characters than me, but the game refers to the character as Shazam. Heres the website if you want to check out for yourself http://www.worldscollide.com/
2) Right. Ya Hawkeye is cooler than Green Arrow. Come to think of it, I'm more of a Marvel guy I guess.
Omega -=> I don't believe a video has been released that shows Joker and G.L. If I give that impression in the start of the video, it's because I thought that that video did show those dudes at first .
Ah. Okay. I didn't know that lol.
