The Day of Reckoning is soon upon ye, after holding back on a few features
Looks like EA's Singapore branch wasn't too far off the mark when it planted a September release timeframe for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. The publisher today confirms that WAR is indeed scheduled to go live this September 18th, after a history of delays.
Mythic's chief Paul Barnett noted that the MMORPG was already in "shippable" state, though development will naturally continue past September to deliver features which were postponed for the sake of polishing the game for launch. Looking at things the other way, one could say the game ought to be shippable anyways given what was pushed back for future release.
The minimum system requirements have already been released, so here's a refresher in case you're wondering if your rig is up to snuff:
Windows XP
- 2.5GHz P4 CPU or equivalent
- 1GB RAM
- 128MB graphics card with Pixel Shader 2.0 support
- minimum 15GB HDD space for installation
Windows Vista
- same as above, but double the minimum RAM requirement to 2GB
Meanwhile, a reminder of the subscription fees for WAR (no it's not free to play in case you're new to WAR):
- Monthly subscription: $14.99 USD
- 3-month subscription: $41.97 USD ($13.99 USD per month)
- 6-month subscription: $77.94 USD ($12.99 USD per month)
WARmongers lacking credit cards can opt to go the voucher route with "collectible" 30- and 60-day prepaid Game Time Cards available at most game retailers.
