Retail release hits October 21, 2008 in standard and collectors boxes

Getting a release date for a game is always well and good, but when news of a Collectors Edition hits, well it's often the bigger highlight of the day since companies tend to pack in all the fun goodies in the CE version.
Let's take a look at what MS plans to bring out to those up for paying the extra $20 for the $79.99 edition
- Bonus DVD – Includes new ‘Making-of Feature’ with Peter Molyneux and the team at Lionhead Studios and concept art viewer
- Bonus In-Game Content (Requires LIVE account) – Includes “The Hall of the Dead” Dungeon, “The Wreckager” Legendary Cutlass Weapon and Otherworldly Bonus
- Collectible Hobbe figure with accessories – From the Qee Collection comes this one-of-a-kind Hobbe figure. Nasty, brutish, and short, he roams the countryside, preying on travelers and spiriting away the children of the unwary.
- 48-hour Xbox LIVE Gold Trial Card – With Xbox LIVE Gold, players can show off their individual hero by inviting friends into their unique version of Albion or they can visit their friends’ Albion, and earn additional gold, experience and renown to take back into their own.
- Five printed Fate Cards – These five beautiful cards foretell the Hero’s great destiny to journey across all of Albion, encountering deadly enemies and enigmatic allies. The path leads to a choice that will change the world forever.
The package isn't too bad in presentation, although those who use the trial card will be a bit disappointed when they realize that the in-game content will probably be locked still for those who at least have a minimum monthly subscription card. The DVD is a nice bonus although books of concept art tend to be nicer to have since it's a physical object but still it's handy since the game is very stylized in the approach instead of focusing soley on skin models and tree models rendered in total accuracy while wearing body suits for the most real to date experience on the planet. The Hobbe and the Fate cards are just a nice bonus on top of all else, I think there could be a little more bulk but for pushing only $20 more it's not entirely bad. I think if anything the outrage will come when people realize that "The Wreckger" and Otherwordly Bonus were only available to those paying more for them at launch.
The game comes to the US on October 21 packing a $59.99 or $79.99 offering and it seems like many will be quite eager to jump all over the game when it arrives. Let us really just hope everyone gets along somehow when XBL play comes into the mix on launch.
