Far Cry 2 specs make official debut Image 1

Far Cry 2 has made some interesting appearances over the past few months, showing off new teasers of burning vegitation and weather / time systems for passing day and night and rain or just extreme heat. Much of this leaving people to wonder how power hungry the Dunia engine would be exactly.

Today Ubisoft breaks out their official specs for the game and I have to say I'm really impressed about how many generations back it actually leaps.

Minimum requirements

CPU:
Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz, Pentium D 2.66 Ghz, AMD Athlon 64 3500+ or better

Video card:
NVIDIA® 6800 or ATI®X1650 or better
Shader Model 3 required
256 Mb of graphic memory

Memory: 1 GB

Media reader: DVD-ROM

Recommended

CPU:
Intel® Core 2 Duo Family, AMD®64 X2 5200+, AMD® Phenom or better

Video card:
NVIDIA® 8600 GTS or better, ATI®X1900 or better
512 Mb of graphic memory

Memory: 2 GB

Sound: 5.1 sound card recommended

Media reader:
DVD-ROM

Supported Video cards:
NVIDIA® 6800, NVIDIA® 7000 series, 8000 series, 9000 series, 200 series. 8800M and 8700M supported for laptops.
ATI® X1650 – 1950 series , HD2000 series , HD3000 series , HD4000 series .

The specs seem to show how versatile Dunia is for performance when pitted against the Crysis engine, although it really does puzzle the mind that the X1900 is in the recommended slot against a midrange 8 series. I'd have to wonder what exactly they're doing to optimize the engine so far that those recommended spec cards are all you need.

The game seems to be shaping up well though and if no upgrades are needed around the board for people to enjoy the game then it's quite an accomplishment on their part, the only thing that seems to be somewhat demanding is the CPU area with the 5200+ X2 as their suggested processor (2.6GHz core)

I don't have that kinds of graphics cards so, I'd prefer it on the mighty PS3 with Blu-ray disc.

Honestly it's probably one of the broadest offerings for support in quite some time for video compatibility. Given the PS3 is based off the G70 series it should do well enough if they're saying an X1900 is recommended spec.

Wow, I bet my E8400 @ 3.8GHz won't break a sweat, along with my 8800GTS...
