With the 17th upon us, it seemed like Crysis Warhead would be cruising along to the PC today without any major incidents, unfortunately this early morning I noticed through some research that the game data is already making rounds on the internet and on top of that people are already shooting at trying to run the game. Piracy troubling for a development house to face when they seem to be taking lessons from the past and applying it to future releases, it seems a lot of negative thought about the original and a lot of statements found in the comments of the downloads often stated that since they couldn't run the game reliably why would they purchase it, the financial challenge ended up fueling what seemed to be an endless download spree of the game in 2007. For many of them they're already starting up again, trying to tinker in this dvd image that has been put out there, and while a lot of people are determined to get this thing working soon, it seems there are also a good number using digital distribution systems like Steam or in general they are just not as turned off by the pricing model of $29.99USD for a title that seems more humble.

Warhead comes to the community this time not boasting about how it'll decimate your current hardware for the next 6 years but instead about how it can run on a very moderate system with respectable results and that for those with a tight budget that the game might be something to consider given that it doesn't require a total upgrade, it offers some nice visuals and it has a revised multi-player atmosphere. The company seemed to take some of the statements that were channeled out from the original and work them into this latest version of the game making it more hardware friendly and more appealing to the consumer.

One can hope the footprint made by piracy the last time around isn't nearly as large with the company pulling in less revenue per unit with Warhead, for some there's a stick it to the man mentality about things but with the PC arena thinning out and focuses turning to the consoles, it's not a good thing to chase off every company trying to do something big since chances are they will not stick around on the platform for long. Unfortunately for PC gamers they're already feeling the sting of these moves with the recent content editing in Rage by id removing entire sections out for the sake of space and no word being put out there about any later addition of the content as a download.

We'll be taking a look at Warhead this week and aiming to have a review posted around Friday. Keep an eye out for it if you're on the fence with the game though, last time around Crysis had some up and down moments, we'll see how well those clear up in the sequel.
