Walking you through the game's mechanics
We covered Blue Omega's title Damnation last month when the first trailer was released, and suffice it to say, we were impressed enough to want to give the game even more attention when this second video arrived.
Dubbed the "Verticality trailer", it features lots of in-game footage combined with some of the developers discussing the game mechanics, particularly the navigation and the "verticality" elements, the latter of which refers to the massive environments which seem to just keep going down and down (or up and up). Be warned there are some syncing issues with this one, but it's not too much of a bother. Anyway, here is the video:
I'm really impressed with this game, partly because it seems influenced by so many titles. I see Gun, Tomb Raider, Mirror's Edge and BioShock in it from the two trailers alone (one of our other writers Kevin Spiess also mentioned Gears of War in the previous article), but like any smart developer, they're bringing plenty of uniqueness to the table too.
Aside from the video, some more screenshots of the game's environments were also released, further showcasing the emphasis on vertical gameplay, and you can see those below.
