New shots and updated information coming
Today Capcom has decided to unleash a little bit of light into the world of SSFIITHDR players, the light being a dedicated pack of screens and some brief news about the game, players should be happy to finally hear that the game is really coming along well and they're hoping to have a final release shortly, to help celebrate the closure of this long path they walked they'll be having some cool promo material close to previous releases (Mega Man 9 anyone?) also they plan to drop new trailers and a handful of new suprises for the masses.
It's not a ton of information but it is rewarding to know the game is on the way and they're planning to give it equal treatment to their other titles for marketing. In the meantime check out some of the pictures from that pacakge.
Not to mention the blatant perspective mistakes in this second screen with the guys in the back looking bigger than those in front.
Super Nintendo versions look better.
The revision they're introducing for IIHD is a revision of play, they introduce some moves from Alpha and introduce a low level special attack system, it's not a complete revamp of mechanics because it's still trying to be SFII. Given the popularity of the game by people even today it seems that there is demand for the "same stupid mechanic moves" that continue on even into SF4.
If you were hoping for another 3D fighter then you're probably in the minority there, the 3D fighters existed but they never did well in comparison to Alpha, III and the Marvel licenses. If you want Virtua Fighter 5 then go play Virtua Fighter 5, don't hope that they destroy a franchise just to meet your personal desire.
As for the visuals, they redrew the entire thing, SFII had the same perspective issues, if you have time to be studying the background then I guess you probably have some terrible opponents to have that kind of time to focus on that in a match, that or you're on the floor most of the time. If you're so hurt over all this why not plug in your SNES though and put your blockers to ignore the changes to the series since then.
Refining the gameplay instead of just piling on new features is a reasonable way to go about making a game IMHO.
Theres plenty of good 3D games around, from the oldies Tekken series to newest MK vs DC. The whole point is: why not put some effort to it and try to improve it. I mean, have you seen the Japanese anime versions of SFII? they completely blow up our minds. See in comparison the animated series made in the US. In this sense even SF-IV I am afraid could let us down. Like, I know theres a lot of romantic fans of SF around and stuff and I know that you probably wnt to their website to check whats new but thats what make it impossible for you to be merely critical. C'mon your buying the same old thing, so dont fuss about it.
as for the drawings when I was 11 I could do better
lol
sorry fans
Like I noted, the only focal point with SFIIHD is improving the basics of SFII, you can't revamp the entire game and still call it SFII it's a tribute game to what spun off the entire series and brought fighting games to the mainstream.
Given that focus by the company it makes sense that they didn't try to make Street Figher Alpha 3 HD or something to that effect, Alpha was great and it hooked a lot of home users but it didn't put the company on the map.
The personal remark is pointless, I don't check their website at all, Capcom reps simply email me when they have updates and from there I determine if it's worthwhile or not, this scenario noted that the game was near release and it had mention of high promotional content coming soon, there's nothing to cloud being critical, if someone is following the game expecting Alpha 4, Street fighter V or some other sequel then it's their own mind leading them into a false hope.
Does make me wonder why you bothered to rant at all though, it is the same old thing, everyone knows it, but a lot of people don't plan to break out a Genesis, SNES or buy a cheap up-scale port on Live / PSN / or the Wii-Shop when they can get a nicer looking upgrade for a little more.
lol to the drawing comment, right, I bet you could turn anything you touched to gold as well right? you use a Ferrari as your daily driver and your Bentley is your weekend car. There's debating a topic and then there's outright silliness, this would be the latter of the two.
