Patch addresses several issues plaguing PC version

Rockstar releases patch for GTA IV PC Image 1

Last week, Rockstar Games announced an upcoming patch that would remedy several problems that have been irking gamers since Grand Theft Auto IV hit PC.  That fix is out, today.

This new patch should provide better memory management to help lower-end PCs, fixes shadow quality for the ATI 1900-series, allows players to actually save their settings and multiplayer characters, and so much more.

Oh, and German gamers shouldn't be crashing left and right anymore.

Rockstar has also stated that they will be helping customers on a "case-by-case basis," stating, "We want to thank the GTA fan community for your endless devotion and continued support as we work through these issues," said Rockstar in a statement."

    They should have done it since the game launch day so that to avoid some gratuitous dilemmas of innocent PC gamers.

    The PC guys always get the short end of a stick when console games hit the PC.

    and pc games have the long end of the stick when it comes to GPU technology. we're always 1 shader model ahead of consoles and that means we experience the future before them shady bastad's.

    Actually we often get a lot of extra content/enhancements. But yeah, sometimes suffer in other areas, which is unfortunate.

    @bruceleethree
    Nothing to do with the article, but that was the best altered version I've seen. Thanks XD

    I can agree that PC games have ups and downs. I really wouldn't mind a more powerful machine despite my 360.

    I think it is sort of hit-or-miss for ports, more often a miss though.

    GTA IV did get that extra video editor thing, and the [apparently] higher res textures.

    Mass Effect was a good PC port that gained some stuff.

    But yeah there are definitely tons of sloppy ports though as well.
