Two new 65nm dual cores, with L3 cache

The Inq reports that AMD has released two new processors, and to better confuse people, they have the same model number - but run at different speeds

  • AMD Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition - 2.7GHz, unlocked multiplier, 2x512K L2, 2MB L3 cache, $79 retail
  • AMD Athlon X2 7750 OEM - 2.5GHz, locked multiplier, 2x512K L2, 2MB L3, $??

The black edition chip may be a good overclocker, and at $79, its a nice chip for HTPC's.

Well, apparently, the Athlon X2 7750 BE only offers about 20 W less power draw than the 6400+ BE. On the flipside, the later outperforms it in practically everything for not much more money. In my opinion, the 20 extra watts would be worth it.

That Black Edition sounds like a fine deal to me.
