You know, I've wondered when someone would point this out. I own a PS3, and have nothing against the XBox. I kinda wish I had one since only one of my friends has a PS3. But the biggest argument XBox fanboys have against the PS3 is the price. Yet, looking just at the online, the XBox drains more of your money after just two years. Shorter time if you count the add-ons.

And now we just wait for the flame war to start.

It's more or less a fanboy fight in chart format. The arguments presented as categories and checklists make sense until you really delve into each console, their capabilities, models, user base, exclusive titles, gamer preference, etc.

I just find it funny Sony is essentially using fanboy-ism for their PR campaign (in this case).

They compared the 80 gig PS3 vs. the Xbox360 arcade, which is the lowest end of the Xbox360 products. This "study" proves nothing. The PS3 doesn't have higher graphics from the blu ray, all they do is store repeated game daya on the blu ray game discs so they load a bit faster. Playing online games on the PS3 is really not fun at all compared to Xboxlive.

Sure, two of these require us to sit on our posteriors in front of a screen with a controller and use very little of our daily caloric intake... thus producing fat, out of shape game porkers. The other requires a bit more, to quite a bit more from the player. Lots of people break a sweat with some of the programs and actually get some exercise. What a concept, with planned bio feedback, with better and better simulations... we might actually loose our international reputation as a bunch of obese porker nerds.

LoL, good try Sony, unfortunately the key reasons why people would buy any gaming console is for the Games..!

Right, until someone who isn't a rabid fanboy or a rep of the company in question, I will NEVER believe a console is better then it's competition.

It's like the annoying "insert name here challenge" things, where a company will put it's product against another and then broadcast the results in a commercial. I am not going to believe you, your trying to sell me said product, so obviously if you hosted the challenge you could easily modify the opposition and make your product look better.

And to keep it going: PS3 online ending: any game can be dropped at any time for no reason whatsoever and the servers are put up by the developers of hte games themselves instead of at the cost to sony, leading to higher costs to developers, leading to less online support, if at all, or even future support.(could be one of the major reasons many development companies are going out of business), ungodly expensive SDK, online SDK costs extra, and it's RENT not buy. Surf the net like a cellphone. Slow, clunky, doesn't support everything... etc. Hardly any working online, even then opponents are fairly scarce, sketchy connections, no video yet, no netflix integration, blu ray is cool though, but very expensive. Harddrive is nice. Wait, no ability to defrag? Auto defrags that cause game slowdown? GASP! (although neglible in most cases.)

360: online subscription fees pay for servers that are constantly up and keep support for any and all games going.(Hell, Phantom Dust still plays online.) Movies online, netflix integration, online voice and video chat when not ingame. chat with multiple friends while ingame. Tons of online content. Surfs the net like a toaster. PORN! no really, they have PORN!!! well, movies with risque scenes... MUSIC AND MUSIC VIDEOS! EVEN FREE ONES! actually they're pretty good

Wii: wtf, it has online? oh wait don't you have to enter like five 70 digit codes? Surfs the net as well as its flushes down a toilet. No online movies. Not much online content. Sketchy connections, slow connections, but ugly graphics. more addictive than crack or weed or even ciggerettes. Wii sports is still the best title. More fun with a girl than sex (ussually. Ends in less tears and more boobs sometimes. Wait, wtf am I saying? Whats a girl?)

PC: 400-499 USD for a decent one, hundreds of free games with free online play, ability to play older games that you know and love, can surf the net more efficiently then a cell phone or toaster, movies, netflix integration, expandable, scalable, sometimes sexy, LOTS OF PORN! even animal porn ^^

remember kids, its marketing. GoGirl is as much an energy drink for women as beer is only for men. It only has an added appetite suppressant. Everything else is the same (except for one ingredient that actually isn't necisary except for giving a quick burst of energy before the prolonged caffeine effects of taurine.)

They're just stating the facts. Although the 360 might be considered to have better games, the PS3 has more of a console for the overall price.

Funny thing is, people probably didn't sit there staring at the consoles and study the statistics and judge which one they should buy. They probably just bought the console that they saw first. And here they are now, arguing like a bunch of little fanboy/girls.

Well I'm going to be different and say the PC is better.
It has: Infinite backwards compadibilty, even for other gaming devices, a choice of many free online services and the option to make you own server, every disc format under the sun with mnay having more than one disc drive, the most available power, storage and an easily upgradeable modular system

So Sony is now using "Vs. Brand X" advertising to get us to buy their big box? They seem to be forgetting that the primary reason people aren't buying PS3s is the large up-front cost. They can sit there and say that after you buy all the extra crap for your 360 you'll wind up spending more, but that's not what your average consumer is looking at. And I'mm kind of surprised that if they were doing this kind of comparison, they didn't mention the extra stuff you need to buy for your Wii. At minimum you'll need to buy a nunchuk. When I bought my Wii on launch day, I spent about $400 for the console, Zelda, an extra wiimote and 2 nunchuks. If Sony really wants to improve their sales, they should pass some of the savings from their reduced manufacturing costs to the buyers. Drop the price by 25% and watch sales skyrocket.

but their performance is basically the same, and for example in fallout 3 xbox owns the ps3 in graphics, well that's what i've read and seen. And why don't they compare xbox 360 elite with the ps3?

Here's a nice chart I just made up on the spot:

1. Everyone I know that has a Wii doesn't play it. It's a gimmick. The games suck. It's marketed towards the lowest common denominator of parents and young kids who can't decipher what's a good game or not.

2. The XBOX360 has a fail rate like white guys trying to dunk a basketball. It has no HDMI, uses DVDs and has no stand out features to make someone undecided buy it.

3. The PS3 is a multi-media machine, it's literally the center of your home entertainment system. Because it has the best hardware the good games are taking longer to come out as you need more time to develop. Blame Sony for the PS3 having bad sales, they gave the Dev kits too late and their marketing department is made up of people with downesyndrome. Blu-Ray is a must have feature, free online support. HDMI, SD/CF/XD flash storage. Easily interchangeable hard drives with no encryption.

For someone who is unbiased based, on these facts, I would choose PS3 hands down without a second thought because in the long run it will demolish it's competitors.

Someone said in an interview said that they DECIDED to go with PS3 in an effort to support Sony, but the TRUTH of the matter is that games like Heavy Rain & Final Fantasy Versus simply COULD NOT EXIST ON ANOTHER SYSTEM unless they had 90% of their content stripped away!



Mark my words...."THE OTHER COMPANIES WILL INCORPORATE BLURAY INTO THEIR CONSOLES (NEXT GEN)" They would be FOOLISH not to.....

Why the hell does it matter. In this world the ONLY bragging rights to which console is better is simply SALES. And looking at sales ps3 *bleep*, xbox is pretty good and wii is well, the freakin wii. Whats the point of saying "yea my company's console kicks ass....buy where losing thousands of dollars per year on it so we had to make a price drop. Then we were still losing money so we had to make a simpler console with less memory but we were still losing money so we had to remove backwards comptibility, but were still losing money so we had to make a chart telling people why we kick ass." And yes, to my knowledge so far in the last fiscal quarter Sony STILL recorded loses with their prized console whereas the 360 continued to make around 8% more sales and the wii increases sales by over 100%.

Lol I like the one that called us all Xbots. I don't really know what it is, but from a logical guess(er der, pretty easy to guess) I took it as a ps3 "fanboy" way to say "Xbox fanboy". @JAC: Skimming through your rant, I noticed you said that Blu-Ray won the format wars because it was superior? I guess you missed that whole thing where Sony bought the rights to HD-DVD and discontinued the format. It was a pretty anti-climactic end to the format wars, really. They won by buying the competition and removing them, not by being superior or preferred by the people.
