Feds say he met the teenage girl through Xbox LIVE
With parents already freaking out about online predators, there's more than enough fuel for the fire. 27-year-old Edward Stout of Missouri was recently arrested after traveling to Sanger, California to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex.
Police say the two met through Xbox LIVE more than a year ago, and the girl was only 14 at the time. They began an online relationship, chatting over LIVE and through MySpace. On her birthday, the man gave this underaged gamer girl a cell phone so they could have more private conversations, exchanging over 1,000 text messages and various inappropriate photos.
On January 26, Stout traveled all the way to California to meet the girl for sex. After the girl's father found out he was in California, he called the police, who arrested Stout at a motel. Sources are unclear as to whether the two actually engaged in sexual activity, but Stout has been charged with coersion of a minor over the internet and traveling across state lines to engage in sex with a minor.
In California, the age of consent is 18.
Just last week, a 19-year-old Ohio man was arrested and charged for raping a 12-year-old boy he met through LIVE. Maybe parents and kids alike could benefit from Microsoft's video game safety education program, Get Game Smart -- just don't call Dateline about this.
xD!
But really, people are friggen disgusting. If he cant get any from women he should just watch adult flicks. Creeper
Or maybe, just maybe, parents could spend enough time with their kids to know what the hell is going on in their lives. But I guess that would take away from "me time".
The real shame is the sins of the father (and mother) are visited on the son (or daughter) in these cases.
Here's hoping this creep will spend a long time in prison getting friendly with other freaks. Unfortunately, he'll probably be out in a week.
And again, parents, please buy a clue. TALK WITH YOUR CHILDREN. It isn't that %$^&$@ difficult.

NOTHING IS SACRED!
That said, yes parents should be nosy and rude with thier children. I don't think privacy for the teen should come before thier safety. And no, the girl should not be held to the same level of responsibility for this. She was 14 when a man in his mid 20's started working on her.
Little girls have always flirted. That's a part of becoming a young woman. That's no crime. The crime is in taking advantage of a kid. That he did, and that his butt will pay for once he gets to prison. Pedophiles are favorite sex toys in prison. Interesting that you see nothing wrong in something some of the most heineous criminals of our time see as wrong. Go figure. I hope you're not working at a middle school.
If this was a 27 year old woman giving a 15 year old guy a cell phone and coming for sex?
Who the hell would care?
In the bronze ages you married at 15 and died at 20.
Poor, poor society.
If I'm the dad of that 15 year old kid I'm congratulating my son not calling the cops on the woman.
He was a idiot too....if he knows she's underaged WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DO IT!?!?
SHE COULDA BEEN A GUY FOR GOD'S SAKE!
