Was scheduled for a February release
Certain PC blockbuster, The Sims 3, has now officially been postponed until June of 2009. The game was supposed to come out On February 20th.
Sims fans everywhere might be freaking out.
In typical marketeer style, EA's marketing VP Russel Arons skillfully transformed the delay into a strategic and rewarding opportunity that could not be passed up: "The June launch combined with the break-through game the team is building gives us the perfect runway to create awareness for The Sims 3. The Sims 3 will be the original IP summer blockbuster of 2009 as we build off the success of the best-selling PC franchise of all time to create awareness."
There have been rumors of this delay before, but now it is official.
But, you know the old saying -- better to a release a better game four months later, than a crappier game sooner, if you can afford the development costs.

We are SO FREAKING DISSAPOINTED!!!! we had reserved our copies and have been counting down the days and now we just layed around for an hour after finding out the june release date and looked up at the ceiling in silence. WHY EA??? WHY?? Why do this to us we are the biggest SIM Fans EVER and we cannot continue to sustain our lives without the possesion of the sims 3!! We both even got new laptops to prepare for the games release, and now by the time the games come out our laptops will be wore out!!! Please release it now!!

Im afraid i dont believe that the reason they delayed the game is to give it press, the sims 3 is the most awaited game of 2009 already and everyone is aware of how huge it is even if they do not play it themself. I think someone at the creators camp noticed a conciderable amount of bugs....and they need fixing before its released... Or something to that affect. It is dissapointing and im not sure if this will hurt the game due to speculation about why this happened.... I personally love the sims series and am totally bummed about the delay... What happened EA?

Kim and Ash, Unfortunatly you cant really upgrade a laptop like a desktop but i think they have made the specs a lot better than anyone expected. Your laptops should still be in good shape for the sims 3 but i get that your dissapointed.. i have been counting the days too. and i recently took all of the sims 2 and the sims 1 off my desktop to clear it up for the sims 3.... BOOO HOOOO Its going to be a long four months....
I understand all you have been eagerly waiting for the game, but I'm sure that the reason behind the delayed release isn't just for fun. Chances are Maxis found a game killing glitch that had to be fix or found out that the game doesn't install properly into some OPs. Whatever the reason is it's probably for the better. I don't know about you guys, but I would rather wait and enjoy the game to it's fullest potential than to get it early and only enjoy half of what is should be.

this is so EA. good job. 4 months is long, must've been a doozy of a bug. might sound weird but, wish they could implement some sort of multiplayer, but that's a big feat to ask from an already huge game as single player. owell, i still love my sims! and even though i will be gritting my teeth for another 4 months, i know i'll still be at the store frantically claiming my $10 reserved copy. EA = hate /love relationship lol.
Wow this really makes want to say: "I bummed your dad sideways, and called him Dorothy!" They're only doing this to raise awareness of the release. But why do we hafta wait like 4 months! Iv'e already been waiting half a year!!! B@$T@RD$!!![color=silver]

this REALLY grinds my beans!! I want to start a riot!!!!!!! I dont think i have a purpose in life anymore. I bought a new laptop and everything. I took vacation time from my job on the week of its release. I rescheduled a doctors visit that was scheduled 2 months prior b/c its a rheumatologist and its hard to get an appointment there. My boyfriend and I have a one year anniversary on that day in which we had plans and we were going to postpone them. EA HAS RUINED MY LIFE!!!!!!

Ok everyone it is really late but what if they never told us about the bug, we bought it and it was hell laggy and crap?? then we would be complaining more! So it is kinda good that they posponed it.. but they could of left it in May at least! Not June.

OMG, i've been waiting since May for this game. No joke i have been marking the days off with my calender (sad i know) but this game looks freaking awesome! i like visited the site every day which made me even more estatic to play the game. Then just yesterday i found out that it will be postponed to June. I'VE EVEN PRO ORDERED ITTTT! What the *bleep* happened ea? fs, your fans are NOT happy! This game BETTER be worth the wait (y)! Idiots|-)!

OMG, i need to buy it my life is so boring all i do is go to friends houses play old games n do thing we have done before, go to choll eat sleep n go on the computer, i have been waiting for this game since the begjnning of summer!!well i guess it is good if they are dlaying the game 4 debugging reasons but if it really is because of marketing(i highly dought it) i will kill (not really but u get the drift) i NEED IT m so bored!!!

I got one of lose widgets of the countdown for the sims 3 and i think its depressing me even more..its says 116Days 10Hours 03Mins 10Seconds! ARGGGGHHHHH *im in UK so i think we have a few days longer to wait that the US* Im going to go insane waiting! Ea if theres some miraculous way you could snap your fingers and make us all sleep untill the release then that would be great!

No offense but putting off your paper anniversary, changing a doctors appointment and taking a week off work is pretty sad for a game. I love the sims but really, you consider it more important than spending time with your boyfriend or making sure you aren't sick?

Its likely its a vista and its replacements compatability or glitch. Probably a thank microsoft for the delay, not all EA's own doing. Its probably good 7 had a big timely beta so EA could get in front of issues rather than face big ones impacting the franchise future. Sure they probably could go ahead and do an XP only soft launch, but I really would rather pay 70 once, and not have it need tons of patches, to run smoothly, on any compatible OS. The better the game does, the better stuff they will create for it in expansions and capabilities.

I've already sold all of my TS2 games in order to save up for and create space on my PC for TS3! Now i'm going to be Sim-less for 4 months...
i sent my mum out to get it...meant to be out yesterday!! so freaking pissed offff!!

... No really, I must be the only one in here who is dissapointed in what I saw from the trailers... Its not the graphics, the graphics seem AWESOME! It's not the VARIOUS new actions and features, they seem AWESOME! It simply is... THE SIMS! They are friggin' UGLY!!! They look SO WEIRD! I can't even think about controlling something that looks like that! Oh well... Time to go play the sims 2... At least these look acceptable
