LittleBigPlanet, Braid, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, Fable 2 and Grand Theft Auto 4 all nominated for GDC Game of the Year
The folks behind the Game Developers Conference reveal the complete list of finalists for the ninth annual Game Developers Choice Awards to be held on March 25th during this year's GDC event. You'll find this year's list of titles competing for accolades across the nominations won't differ too greatly from those seen in the Spike and X-Play award shows, but the GDC Award recipients do have the distinction of being chosen by game developers themselves. Not all developers are mild-mannered of course, but the GDC Awards do pride on straying away from the usual fanboy frat/frag fests typical of the more consumer-oriented shows.
"Truly great games are the product of years of hard work by teams of incredibly dedicated and talented developers. It's an underlying principle of GDC that we recognize these talents and honor their achievements," says Meggan Scavio, director of Game Developers Conference. "The awards given out at the Game Developers Choice Awards are more than just trophies; they are recognition of great work by the developer community. The open peer-based selection process ensures that the people with the final say are the people who work within the craft of game development, and we can't wait to see who they choose. Best of luck to all the teams who have gotten this far!"

Some nominations could be more hotly contended than others! Which of the big name titles will the developers themselves end up favoring later this March?
Played:
- Little Big Planet (yawn boring...)
- Braid (excellent game, fairly represented)
- Fallout 3 (not my kinda game, I don't understand the appeal)
- MGS4 (Lame lame lame, too much hype for a crappy game. Oh wow, look how how detailed Solid Snake's ass is)
- GTA4 (Good game, back to basics and work a good storyline, I like it)
- GoW2 (Much improved multiplayer, but single player was crap)
Didn't play the rest listed, Valkyria Chronicles got snubbed apparently, the visuals, storyline, and gameplay were better than most of the games listed. For shame!
Fallout 3 (Bethesda Game Studios)
HAHAHA!
Seriously it had the worst plot of any game ever. It was a slap to the face to Black Isle.
Fallout 3 was a good game but I did not personally think it had award-level writing.
