Kojima's masterpiece joins budget Platinum range
Sony and Konami aren't wasting any time. Metal Gear Solid 4 had been out only since June 2008, but it's about to join budget Platinum range, a roster of successful PlayStation 3 titles available at a lower price.
The Platinum edition of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be released worldwide on March 5. There will be a new suggested retail value of €29,95, which is around $38.00 for Americans. Since last summer, over three million copies of the award-winning MGS4 have been shipped, with the entire franchise standing on 26.5 million units sold.
“Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has proved to be an outstanding title, and its many awards and accolades are testament to this,” said Martin Schneider, European Marketing Director for Konami Digital Entertainment. “With the PlayStation3 user base growing at a rapid rate, this welcome re-release for an all-new price will give this growing community a chance to get to grips with one of the most innovative, testing and varied title for the format.”
