British boy gets hefty penalty for console-related murder
In August 2008, Shane Boyd (16) stabbed and killed Conor Black at a house party over the alleged theft of an Xbox console.
On the night of the incident, Black had arrived at the party with his friends when Boyd approached and struck him over the head with a beer can. Following the assault, Boyd stabbed Black in the back with a kitchen knife as the other 16-year-old was attempting to escape. He then bled to death while Boyd bragged to partygoers that he was "the best," threatening to kill anyone who spoke of this incident.
Judge Clement Goldstone of Manchester Crown Court called Boyd a coward at his sentencing and chastised him for his actions.
"It was truly wicked and shows you in the true colours of a coward," he said. "You thought nothing more of carrying that knife than you would of having a wallet or house keys."
The judge then informed Boyd he would be serving a minimum of 11 years and will not be released until the parole board was satisfied he's no longer a threat to the public.
"Will young people like you never learn that the public and the courts will not tolerate those who carry knives without concern for the consequences, and this offence is also aggravated by your brazen arrogance after you stabbed him."
Word, homie looks a little off. NB4 "Xboxes dont kill people. People kill people."
You know, I never see anyone killing each other over a wii.
You don't stab people in the back, we are not Italian.
And BTW, Sah Kuh suckers, your mom's kind of mean if she kicks you off the Xbox just because some dude killed another person over one. No offense k?
Seriously though, the kid deserves life without parole.
i remember another story about some guy who killed his grandmother because she interrupted him while he was playing a computer game, either everquest or lineage2 was a couple years back... all she did was cook him some dinner and then told him to come and eat.
