William Henning - Friday, March 3rd, 2006 | 11:44AM (PT)

NEC demonstrates its 480MBps wireless USB design

Over the last few years USB has become a very popular way of attaching peripherals to computers, and to transfering information between devices.

NEC now intends to eliminate the cord!

NEC's fPD720170 host controller allows 480Mbps data transfer between devices at a distance of up to three meters, or 110Mbps at up to ten meters.

PC card adaptors will be offered in the second half of this year, followed by devices with embedded wireless USB.
