For those that have been watching on the sidelines the Twilight Hack isn't anything new, it's a method in which certain versions of the Wii Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess discs can be used to run unsigned code. As a result of such, gamers have been able to run ELF files of tetris and game emulators with more on the horizon for development.

For Nintendo this isn't an ideal situation, the Wii tends to favor locking out homebrew users for the sake of the Virtual Console sales, by opening up the ability for anyone to run emulators or other code it spells out danger to the company as the hack is evolving out of a niche area for those who used or could find Gamecube SD adapters and is opening itself up to anyone with an SD card and a way to write to it.

This of course isn't a sign to the instant pirating of Wii titles but it's still a bit of a hit to their online business model, only time will tell what the company plans to do to address this item. In the meantime those with the means to acquire the code will probably do so and back it up a few times for safety.

*Update: A video that has emerged on metacafe displaying the results of the latest loader by the community already. It seems that now homebrew coders have the ability to make their own channels on the Wii itself for loaded apps. I guess the community out there is going to grab at this with all they have. Gutted for what? I took a brief look at how it was executed and it's not like it was something your average joe was going to complete.

Given that it's not launching attacks on the console and just letting people homebrew, it's not like it's a threat to Wii owners. It's just letting them launch outside software on their systems if they're so daring to do so.

I'd suggest that people read the article instead going "Nintendo, Hack... OMG H4X! NINTENDO FAIL" and etc. I think Keaton was probably the only one to really check what the author wrote.
