Age of Conan went live last week, and Funcom boasts it's already building momentum with MMO buffs.  The developer believes over 400,000 users have experienced the game online since launch last Tuesday, and "almost half" were based in North America.  That's fairly signifgant for a title which had previously been in the development backburner for quite some time, especially one which wound up going the pay to play route like World of Warcraft.  Indeed, Funcom is betting they've got the most "savage, sexy and brutal MMO" yet, and one of the fastest selling PC games so far this year.

The Age of Conan beta attracted over one million registrations earlier this month, so that likely heralded the interest in the title.  Perhaps the pedigree of the Robert E. Howard franchise played its part in attracting the curious as well.  Now, will the Age of Conan maintain its fanbase in the coming weeks?

Well, I've heard some good things about it, yeah. And I believe the first 20 levels or so, are offline?

I'm a bit interested in this game, and if I had the spare cash, I MIGHT have gotten it (well, after getting a better PC)....

Tallteen -=> First 20 levels are single player, but they are online.

Ya you'll need a hefty PC to run it though.

The game is very good. Not a big departure from the typical fantasy MMORPG formula but nonetheless it is one of the best MMORPGs out right now.

Personally I wish they cut all mobs in half and made them twice as strong stat wise...game is pretty good though.

The game is all hype on blood/gore. Won't hold or last for any good length of time. It'll die down later this year around time WAR and Wotlk come out. The beta was horrible and broken as can be. Really the game reminds me of vanguard with better graphics, and we all know how that beta and launch/retail went....
